By placing an order or using thefamilyword.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not order and do not use the site or hotline.
Who we are
The Family Word is a DBA of UpfrontOps LLC, a Wyoming single-member LLC operated from New Jersey. The business is run by Ryan Murphy in Highland Park, NJ. You can reach us at hello@thefamilyword.com.
What you're buying
The kit is a one-time purchase of $59. The price includes Year 1 of the hotline routing service. A Year 2 and beyond renewal exists in our roadmap, but renewal is not shipped today and you will not be auto-charged. Your order arrives by mail.
Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to order. We ship to United States addresses only at launch.
Payment
Stripe processes payment on our behalf. We never see your full card number. The statement descriptor is "THE FAMILY WORD". By placing the order you authorize the charge at checkout. Sales tax, use tax, and any applicable duty are your responsibility where they apply.
Shipping
Free US shipping on every kit. See the full shipping policy for carriers, timing, and address changes.
Refunds
60-day satisfaction guarantee on the kit. See the full refunds policy for the return process and renewal cancellation.
Account-less product
There is no login. We do not store passwords. To us, your identity is the shipping email and name you used at checkout.
Hotline service
The hotline is not 911 and not an emergency service. The service routes calls to the family members your household configured. For the operating rules and limits of the routing service, see the hotline policy.
SMS messaging
SMS opt-in is not required to buy. If you choose to opt in, see the SMS terms for message frequency, data rates, and how to stop.
Acceptable use
Do not use the site or hotline to harass, threaten, or for any unlawful purpose. Do not reverse-engineer the verification routine. Do not resell the kit without our written consent.
Intellectual property
The "Family Word" name, the logos, the site copy, and the underlying mechanism are © 2026 UpfrontOps LLC. They are not licensed for reuse without permission. For press use of the logos, see press.
Disclaimers
The kit and hotline are provided AS IS, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee the kit or hotline will prevent every scam attempt. The product is a tool to support a family routine, not a substitute for vigilance.
Limitation of liability
Our total liability arising out of or related to your use of the kit or hotline is capped at the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify UpfrontOps LLC against third-party claims arising from your misuse of the kit, the site, or the hotline.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of New Jersey. We try informal resolution first: send us an email and we have 60 days to work it out. After that, either party may bring an individual action in New Jersey state small-claims court or in the federal courts located in New Jersey. No class actions.
Severability
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
Changes
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will bump, and material changes are emailed to active customers.
